The National Lottery’s flagship Lotto game has revealed its most drawn main numbers, ahead of its major transformation to give players two chances to win from a single ticket.

From 7 June, every £2 Lotto line will automatically be entered into two draws on the same night, improving the overall odds of winning a prize from 1 in 9.3 to 1 in 4.9.

Analysis has shown that the most frequently drawn main numbers currently include 42, 37, 39, 52, 58, 11 and 27, with 38, 28 and 12 among the most frequent bonus balls.

Overall, here is the number of times these top numbers have been drawn:

  • 42 – 127 times
  • 37 – 125 times
  • 39 – 125 times
  • 52 – 124 times
  • 11 – 122 times
  • 27 – 122 times

In contrast, 21, 30, 44, 48, 25, 18, 26 and 55 rank among the least drawn main numbers, while 35, 3 and 33 are among the least common bonus balls.

The least drawn numbers:

  • 21 – 93 times
  • 30 – 97 times
  • 44 – 99 times
  • 48 – 99 times
  • 25 – 100 times
  • 18 – 101 times
  • 26 – 101 times
  • 55 – 101 times

The numbers above were analysed from the draw on 10 October 2015 all the way through to 3 June 2026.

While these figures are often used by players to inform their choices, all numbers have an equal probability of being drawn.

The reveal of these figures comes ahead of tonight’s EuroMillions jackpot, which could see a player take home a life-changing £150m.

Other data shows that many players often don’t choose numbers randomly, instead opting for birthdays, anniversaries or house numbers, often picking numbers between 1 and 31.

Given the number of players that gravitate towards similar number ranges, jackpot wins involving lower numbers are statistically more likely to be shared among multiple winners.

It comes as the National Lottery transforms its Lotto draw, which was first launched in 1994.

With no differences to the way people play, the new Lotto will double the chances of a player winning and is set to increase the number of Lotto millionaires each year from 140 to 345.

The twice-weekly Lotto draws, held every Wednesday and Saturday evening at 8pm, will now follow a two-round format, with two sets of six main numbers and a Bonus Ball drawn using two separate machines. This means players can win in one round, the other, or both, all from a single Lotto line.

The National Lottery has also launched a limited edition “scratch coin” to celebrate 30 years of scratch cards, which have been available from selected retailers since 23 May.

Artist and illustrator Hattie Stewart has designed a new coin for players to use when they don’t have change to hand, given that 65 per cent of Brits now live largely cashless lives.

Chris and Geraldine Bradley, from Carmarthenshire in Wales, won £3.5m in 2006 and are stars of the National Lottery’s “It Could Be You” advert.

They said: “We know first-hand just how life-changing a Lotto win can be. That’s why this new format is so exciting – giving players two chances to win from a single ticket means more opportunities for that same incredible moment. It’s fantastic to see even more people getting the chance to become millionaires.

“We won with our family syndicate, and there is nothing like the feeling of becoming a big winner. This new game means there will be even more lucky winners to join us and the other 8,000 plus National Lottery millionaires. All you have to do is get a ticket.”

Andy Carter, senior winners’ adviser at Allwyn, which runs the National Lottery, said: “This is a huge moment for players as we enter a new era for the nation’s millionaire maker, Lotto.

“From now on, every ticket gives you two chances to win for the same £2 price. We’re talking more winners, more excitement and hundreds more millionaires made every year. It really could be you – not once, but twice.”
