The hot weather may well be set to make a return yet again in August
Heatwave number four of the year is to end dramatically with five straight days of rain, according to BBC Weather experts. The latest London forecast shows that from Tuesday (August 4) through to Saturday (August 8) it will be wet every day.
This may not feel hugely summery, but in the same breath, it will be a pleasant break from the searing heat we’ve been blasted with recently. Just yesterday (Wednesday, July 29), the weather thermostat peaked at an uncomfortable 33C in the heatwave with a London-wide drought announced.
The Met Office has a slightly more forgiving take on next week’s elements, but it still forecasts showers on Tuesday. WX Charts also predicts a soggy Tuesday, with a weather map showing an ominous rain cloud hovering over the capital at 9am.
The density of the rainfall is characterised by the shading on the map. This means London could be drenched with about 0.5mm of rainfall per hour.
The hot weather may well be set to make a return, however, reads the BBC’s long-range forecast, which runs from August 10 to August 23. It says: “Temperatures are still most likely to be above the August average right across the UK into late August, and potentially at times well above, especially in the south.”
