A jangle of guitars accompanied by a deep, rich southern drawl will ring out this weekend as country superstar Luke Combs brings his “My Kind of Saturday Night” tour to London for three concerts at Wembley Stadium on Friday, July 31, Saturday, August 1, and Sunday, August 2.

Demand to see the “When It Rains, It Pours” singer on stage in London has been intense, proving UK audiences are as in step with Americana as they are with the hip-hop, R&B, and pop music stars who fill the capital’s arenas all year long. General admission tickets are nearly sold out for all three performances, with a smattering of resale tickets available for those in the know.

How is Luke Combs?

Luke Combs was born in Huntersville, North Carolina, in March 1990. His early musical experiences were confined to school musicals and the church choir. It wasn’t until studying criminal justice at Appalachian State University with plans to become a detective that Combs taught himself guitar, performing his first gig at a bar where he worked part-time as a bouncer. He later quit his degree and moved to Nashville to pursue music.

In Nashville, Combs released three well-received EPs before his first single, “Hurricane” in 2016, which sold 15,000 copies in its first week. He signed a deal with Sony Music Nashville and his first album, “This One’s For You” followed a year later, yielding the smash hits “When It Rains It Pours”, “One Number Away” and the re-released “Hurricane”. Combs was soon invited to join the Grand Ole Opry, joining the ranks of country music royalty.

In 2019, Combs second album “What You See Is What You Get” charted the singles “Beer Never Broke My Heart”, “Even Though I’m Leaving”, “Does to Me” (a duet with Eric Church), and “Lovin’ on You”, all which had reached number one on the country chart. His 2020 single “Six Feet Apart” captured the sadness of Covid and social distancing, becoming a firm favourite on the radio.

Support acts

Luke Combs will be supported by three acts during his shows at Wembley over the weekend: Thomas Rhett, Ty Myers, and The Castellows. Combs’ friend Thomas Rhett, son of country music legend Rhett Akins, joins the tour as a special guest on the London dates. Rhett has had no fewer than 20 singles hit number one on the US country billboard, with the smash hits “Die A Happy Man”, “Make Me Wanna” and “Somethin’ ‘Bout A Woman” each scoring hundreds of millions of downloads on Spotify.

Other support acts include 19-year-old rising country music talent and Texan native, Ty Myers, who released the viral singles “Thought It Was Love” and “Ends of the Earth” last year, as well as country music trio The Castellows, made up of three sisters from Georgia – Eleanor, Lily and Powell Balcomb – who have released the hit singles “Hurricane” and “I Know It Will Never End” from their first EP.

Stage times

Doors open at 5pm on Friday, July 31, and Saturday, August 1, and at 4pm on Sunday, August 2. The show start time is 6.15pm on Friday and Saturday, and 5.45pm on Sunday. It is thought Ty Myers and The Castellows will be the first acts on stage, followed by special guest Thomas Rhett and finally Combs himself.

Tickets are almost sold out for Luke Combs’ “My Kind of Saturday Night” tour at Wembley Stadium, although a number of resale tickets are available from vendors such as AXS Official Resale or Ticketmaster starting from £65.
