Virgin Atlantic flight VS317 from Bengaluru to London Heathrow turned around shortly after takeoff due to a technical issue
A Virgin Atlantic aircraft carrying 270 passengers bound for London Heathrow was compelled to make an emergency landing shortly after departing from Kempegowda International Airport (KIAB) in Bengaluru (also known as Bangalore), in the southern Indian state of Karnataka, at approximately 8.20am on September 6.
The flight had barely taken to the skies when the crew detected a technical fault, prompting the aircraft to abandon its journey and turn back, according to the Mirror.
The plane spent over half an hour circling before successfully touching down at KIAB, where all passengers were asked to disembark. A Virgin Atlantic spokesperson confirmed: “The VS317 flight from Bengaluru to London Heathrow returned to Bengaluru shortly after departure due to a technical issue.
“The aircraft landed safely as a precaution and the flight was subsequently cancelled. The safety and security of our customers and crew is always our top priority. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused to our customers.
“Our teams are supporting those affected and are working hard to rebook them onto alternative services as quickly as possible.”
