Bon Jovi fans have expressed their frustration after an issue at the band’s second gig at Wembley Stadium this week ‘destroyed’ their performance and ruined fans’ evenings
It was supposed to be one of the most memorable nights of the year for thousands of devoted rock fans. But for many Bon Jovi fans who packed into Wembley Stadium on Sunday (6th September) night, the evening turned into a deeply frustrating experience – and one they are still fuming about online.
Bon Jovi had been riding high on their Forever Tour, bringing their legendary catalogue of anthems to the iconic London venue across three consecutive nights. The atmosphere should have been electric, and by all accounts, the band gave everything they had on stage. Sadly, for a large chunk of the crowd, what they heard told a very different story.
The culprit was a malfunctioning speaker tower that blasted an incessant crackling static noise throughout the entirety of the second night’s set. While the opening and closing dates of the three-night run passed without issue, those who attended the middle show found themselves battling through the grating audio fault all evening.
The persistent problem left many struggling to enjoy the performance, and some are now demanding their money back for the inconvenience. Fans took to various social media platforms to vent their frustrations, with most praising Bon Jovi themselves for continuing to put on a great show despite the technical faults.
On TikTok, one disgruntled attendee remarked: “It was awful, lucky we were able to move. Refunds all round, I reckon.”
Meanwhile, another stated: “I honestly thought I was going mad – what awful sound! The show was brilliant, though.”
The frustration quickly spread across X, where fans vented their anger directly at the venue. One concertgoer posted: “At Bon Jovi concert … sound isn’t right at all … @wembleystadium, please do something about it.”
Another wrote: “@wembleystadium awful crackling speakers tonight at Bon Jovi.”
With tickets costing premium prices, one fan also took aim at Ticketmaster, posting: “@TicketmasterUK £175 a ticket for club Wembley seat in block 207 and the speaker right in front of us hasn’t stopped crackling! Sounds awful, poor #bonjovi.”
The issues were not limited to the headline act either. One concert-goer revealed the faulty speaker had also blighted the performance of support act James Bay, casting a shadow over the entire evening from the very start. They also said that after a string of complaints were made to production staff, the speaker was eventually switched off.
That fan wrote: “@Wembleystadium. Letting Bon Jovi down. Working their socks off. Speaker destroying performance.
“Affected all of James Bay’s set, too. Inadequate sound checks? Complaints were made by numerous people. A member of the production team was notified. He wouldn’t give his name. Said that was down to the sound engineers and would pass a message on. Eventually, the speaker was switched off.
“Waited a long time for this gig and was so disappointed by something which should have been sorted out before. Sound engineers/production team, hang your heads in shame. I hope people attending on 9th Sept have a better experience.”
Switching the speaker off, however, brought its own set of problems. One attendee, who shared video footage of the crackling audio online to illustrate just how bad the noise was, explained that cutting the tower left fans further back in the venue struggling to hear the stage at all.
He posted: “Here’s how bad the sound was for at least the first 45 mins! Then this speaker got turned off, and the stage sounded like it was miles away. Then it was turned back on, same again, then I think just used for the mid range. Shambles!”
Wembley Stadium has been approached for comment.
