The iconic St Paul’s Cathedral became Gotham City over the weekend
Pictures and videos over the weekend showed one of London’s most important landmarks turned into a film set for the highly anticipated next Batman movie. The Batman Part II, starring Robert Pattinson, took over St Paul’s Cathedral for the weekend of September 12 and 13, with crew and props spotted popping up.
The iconic location is understood to be the setting for The Gotham Bar Association for the next film, which is scheduled to be released in cinemas in February 2028. Whether it was a ‘Bruce Wayne’ being spotted walking down the steps of the Cathedral into a mob of protestors heckling him or Gotham police cars, the outside of St Paul’s looked completely different to normal.
In the video posted, you see what is alleged to be Bruce Wayne, played by a body double, walking down the steps as he is surrounded by ‘Gotham City Court’ officers. Other videos show Robert Pattinson doing the scene himself, with fans excited at their first look at him in character.
In pictures posted on social media, bus signs were even covered up with ‘Gotham Transit Authority’ and displaying bus stops in the fictional Gotham City.
Roads around St Paul’s were closed, with buses diverted, as filming crews moved in to set up the area.
Whether it was the iconic yellow taxis spotted on the streets or Bruce Wayne’s car, the roads outside St Paul’s looked drastically different to how they’d usually look on a weekend.
