While I often advise NOT to eat in Westminster because it’s one of the more touristy parts of London, this is more so because people don’t know where to look and end up finding the duds rather than the hidden gems.

If you plan ahead, there are some great places to eat in Westminster that will leave you with great memories of a fantastic meal – it’s all about knowing the secrets of where to go.

After 10 years of living in London and eating my way around Westminster (someone has to), here are my top picks on the best restaurants in Westminster for your list of must-try foodie destinations.

1. The Red Lion Parliament Street

Located a stone’s throw from the Houses of Parliament, The Red Lion on Parliament Street is a quintessential British pub with a rich history.

I love their classic fish and chips – crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, served with a side of mushy peas.

The atmosphere is cozy, with a touch of historical charm, making it a perfect spot for a pint after a day of sightseeing.

Address: 48 Parliament Street, London SW1A 2NH

2. Colosseo Restaurant

If you’re craving Italian, Colosseo Restaurant is a must-visit. This cozy eatery offers a delightful array of Italian dishes that feel like a warm hug from Nonna.

I highly recommend their spaghetti carbonara – it’s creamy, rich, and loaded with pancetta.

Pair it with a glass of Chianti, and you’re in for an authentic Italian experience right in the heart of London.

Address: 79 Victoria Street, London SW1H 0HW

3. Two Chairmen

For a traditional pub experience with a bit of flair, Two Chairmen on Dartmouth Street is a great choice.

Their Sunday roast is something I dream about – tender roast beef, crispy roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, and a generous helping of gravy.

The atmosphere is lively yet relaxed, perfect for a laid-back afternoon with friends.

Address: 39 Dartmouth Street, London SW1H 9BP

4. Bon Gusto

Another gem for Italian cuisine is Bon Gusto.

Their pizza is a standout – thin, crispy crusts topped with the freshest ingredients.

I particularly enjoyed the Diavola, with its spicy salami and tangy tomato sauce.

The ambiance is casual and friendly, making it a great spot for a relaxed meal.

Address: 75 Buckingham Gate, London SW1E 6PD

5. Caxton Grill

For something a bit more upscale, Caxton Grill at St. Ermin’s Hotel offers a sophisticated dining experience.

Their steaks are cooked to perfection, and the service is really great.

I had the ribeye, which was juicy and flavorful, accompanied by a side of truffle fries (you can never go wrong with truffle fries.)

It’s the perfect place for a special night out.

Address: 2 Caxton Street, London SW1H 0QW

6. The Ivy Victoria

The Ivy Victoria is part of the famous Ivy chain, known for its elegant decor and top notch.

I had their shepherd’s pie, which was hearty and comforting, with a rich, savory filling and creamy mashed potato topping.

The restaurant’s stylish interior and attentive service make it a wonderful spot for a celebratory meal.

Address: 66 Victoria Street, London SW1E 6SQ

7. Ma La Sichuan

For those who love a bit of spice, Ma La Sichuan on Victoria Street is a paradise.

Their hot pot is a must-try if that’s you (I made my husband try it as I don’t like spice!) featuring a spicy, flavorful broth and a variety of fresh ingredients to cook at your table.

The experience is both fun and delicious, perfect for adventurous eaters looking to try something different.

Address: 37 Monck Street, London SW1P 2BL

8. Sapori

Sapori offers a taste of Sicily in the heart of Westminster.

Their seafood pasta is outstanding, with fresh, succulent seafood in a light, flavorful sauce.

The restaurant has a warm, welcoming atmosphere, making it a great place for a leisurely meal with friends or family.

Address: 58 Great Peter Street, London SW1P 2HD

9. Cellarium Cafe and Terrace

For a unique dining experience, the Cellarium Cafe and Terrace at Westminster Abbey is hard to beat.

People are always surprised when I recommend it, but it’s really a great gem!

The setting is beautiful, with views of the abbey and a peaceful ambiance.

I enjoyed their afternoon tea, which included a delightful selection of sandwiches, scones, and pastries.

Address: 20 Dean’s Yard, London SW1P 3PA

10. Fuller’s Kitchen

Fuller’s Kitchen at The Sanctuary House Hotel offers a menu full of hearty British classics.

Their steak and ale pie is a standout – tender beef in a rich ale gravy, encased in a perfectly flaky pastry.

The pub-like atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making it a great place to unwind with a good meal.

Address: 33 Tothill Street, London SW1H 9LA

11. Blue Boar Pub

Last but not least, the Blue Boar Pub at Conrad London St. James is a fantastic spot for modern British cuisine.

I particularly enjoyed their lamb rump, which was cooked to perfection and served with a delicious mint jus.

Address: 45 Tothill Street, London SW1H 9LQ
