Croydon residents will elect councillors in all 28 wards and a new Croydon Mayor in the much-anticipated local elections on May 7
Croydon Council has confirmed its list of all 210 candidates standing ahead of the much-anticipated local elections on May 7. All 70 seats on the council will be contested across the borough’s 28 wards.
The council has been controlled by the Conservatives since they took power from the previous Labour administration in 2022. Since May 2022, Croydon has also had a Conservative Executive Mayor in Jason Perry, although his position will also be contested on May 7.
All the main political parties have fielded candidates and are joined by a significantly expanded Reform UK presence, which is standing in 25 of the 28 wards. Smaller parties are also represented, including the Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition, the Equality Party, the Workers Party of Britain, and Your Party.
The Taking the Initiative micro-party will also field 14 candidates in Croydon, having previously stood in the 2022 elections. Only two independents are standing across the borough: Graham Mitchell in Bensham Manor and Michael Castle in New Addington North. Here is the full list of candidates in Croydon:
