36 postcodes have been affected by the outage
The Royal Mail has clarified the postcodes that may see delays. It comes as the service is experiencing UK-wide delays.
36 postcodes are affected, but fortunately there is no suggestion London has been hit. Over the last day, Royal Mail’s air network has run on time, but its road deliveries have been hit.
Royal Mail said: “We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week.
“In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors.”
It comes as April saw the price of stamps soar. First Class stamps have gone to £1.80 and Second Class to 91p. The price of a First Class stamp in 2020 was 76p.
The service said this is down to delivery costs going up. Royal Mail’s managing director of letters, Richard Travers, said: “We always consider price changes very carefully, balancing affordability with the rising cost of delivering mail.”
