The company said it wishes to get back to a 5-star rating
A shop owned by a famous businessman has been slapped with a one star hygiene rating. The Black Farmer Shop is found in Brixton Village, founded by ‘The Black Farmer,’ Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones.
Food hygiene inspections are carried out by Environmental Officers from the local council, which in this case is Lambeth Council.
The inspection on March 14 this year found the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building, as well as hygienic food handling was ‘generally satisfactory.’
But it was the management of food safety which found ‘major improvement to be necessary.’
A spokesperson said: “The recent 1-star food hygiene rating for our Brixton shop following an inspection on March 14th was disappointing, especially given our history of maintaining a 5-star rating.
“While our physical standards for food quality remain high, the report identified inconsistencies in manual record-keeping and staff adherence to certain operational protocols.
“In response, we’ve overhauled our processes. We have implemented a new digital food safety management system.
“By moving away from manual, paper-based diaries to this automated system, we have eliminated the risk of human error and ensured real-time oversight of all safety protocols.
“We’re confident that our new systems make our operations more robust than ever. We are now preparing for a formal re-inspection and look forward to the restoration of our 5-star rating. Our customers’ safety and confidence remain our absolute priority.”
