His attacker is still at large, the Metropolitan Police said
A man in his 30s remains in hospital after a stabbing in the centre of Leytonstone last night (April 27). He was reportedly involved in a fight at the junction of High Road and Cathall Road at around 10.30pm, prompting urgent calls to 999.
Officers and paramedics arrived at the scene but could not find the victim. He self-presented at a hospital a short time later, where he was then transferred to a major trauma centre.
The man’s injuries are not life-threatening or life-changing, the Metropolitan Police confirmed in a statement this afternoon. No arrests have been made and witnesses are urged to come forward as soon as possible.
The area around High Road and Cathall Road was closed to traffic and pedestrians at around 11.20pm whilst initial enquiries were carried out. The roads fully reopened four hours later.
A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service added: “We were called at 11.06pm yesterday (27 April) to reports of a stabbing in Cathall Road, Leytonstone. We sent an ambulance crew and an incident response officer to the scene.
“We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance. The first paramedic arrived in less than five minutes but the patient had left the scene. We were then called at 11.18pm to take the same patient from a local hospital to a major trauma centre.”
Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact police on 101, quoting CAD8670/27APR26.
