No arrests have been made so far, the Metropolitan Police has confirmed
A 20-year-old man has been stabbed after a mass brawl broke out in East Ham. The Metropolitan Police was called to Central Park shortly before 5.25pm on Wednesday (April 22) amid reports of an altercation involving about a dozen young people near the water fountain.
Officers arrived to find the victim had been knifed in his abdomen. He was subsequently rushed to hospital by ambulance paramedics where his injuries were deemed to be neither life threatening or changing. The man has since been discharged.
No arrests have been made so far in connection with the stabbing. Anyone who was in Central Park at the time of the incident is asked to get in touch with police.
Detective Inspector Sam Lockstone, who is leading the investigation, said: “This happened in broad daylight in a popular park. We want to hear from anyone who was in the park at the time and might have footage of the incident to come forward and speak to us.
“While knife crime in East Ham is down by 11 per cent in the past year, tackling serious violence is a key priority for the Met. This was an altercation involving weapons and could easily have ended in tragedy.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting CAD 6025/22APR26, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
