Films such as Wicked: For Good and Mamma Mia will be shown on the big screen, along with daily Wimbledon tennis coverage
Canary Wharf’s free open air cinema is set to return this summer promising a full range of films and live sport. Open from June 4 until September 1, visitors won’t need to reach into their pockets to see films such as Wicked: For Good, Barbie, Mamma Mia and Superman, along with family favourites including Wall-E and Matilda the Musical.
These blockbusters will be shown at 7pm on most Tuesdays this summer, while family films will be played at 10.30am on a selection of Tuesdays and Saturdays. The large screen in Canada Park Square will also show daily coverage of the Wimbledon tennis championships between June 29 and July 12, along with England cricket test matches against New Zealand and Pakistan.
There are, however, no plans to show any World Cup games taking places in June and July. The annual Canary Wharf Mario Kart Championship will also return at the big screen with heats taking place across June, July and August.
The winner will be awarded with prizes from across Canary Wharf’s many shops, bars and restaurants. Lastly, four family music quizzes will be taking place across June and August testing visitors on a mix of indie bangers, old school R&B and chart classics.
