‘A top quality fan and I’m hoping will last me years and keep me sane through whatever summer heatwaves come next’

As the weather continues to heat up, investing in a quality fan can provide some relief. The Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo Misting Fan costs £117.29 on Amazon.

Elsewhere, you can get the fan for £129.99 at Shark and Currys. The fan comes in five colours: dove, glacier, lilac, charcoal, and quartz.

The fan can be used corded or cordless, and indoors and outdoors. It’s got a misting system that produces an ‘ultra-fine’ mist meant to leave no wet surfaces. When cordless, the fan can run for up to 12 hours. The fan weighs less than 2.1kg and its breeze can reach up to 20 metres. But it’s not the only misting fan on the market.

Alternatively, you can get the HOMCOM Oscillation Spray Misting Pedestal Fan 47 inch for £52 at Wilko. The fan has four speeds and an adjustable water spray.

Elsewhere, there’s the Lifemax Mist Fan for £23.99 at Superdrug. The tiny fan is rechargeable and folds down into a compact puck.

Back on Amazon, the Shark fan has 4.6 stars from 734 reviews. One person said: “I’m so glad I found this fan in time for summer heatwaves. I don’t have the option of air conditioning, and this kept me cool through the nights, and the misting feature adds an extra cooling sensation which helped me get to sleep instead of tossing and turning miserably. It’s quiet enough to sleep, very easy to move around and small enough to not take up too much space.

“There are five different speeds plus the misting options. I only used level two on the hottest nights (UK weather ), and level one on more average summer heat. Of course the higher levels come with more noise, but i’ve not needed them as there’s good airflow on the lower levels. I picked it up on Prime Day, it’s a bit on the higher end pricewise but you get what you pay for – a top quality fan and I’m hoping will last me years and keep me sane through whatever summer heatwaves come next.”

Another person wrote: “This is the best fan I’ve had! It’s very quiet – it has different speeds and there is a ‘mist’ element if you need it! I could have this on in the bedroom and as it is so quiet it didn’t disturb me. It’s great value for money and also the colour is really nice (I have the green one – but there are other colours). It’s flexible too as it moves around wherever you need it!”

Not everyone was as impressed with the fan. One disappointed customer said: “Did not like the fact that the fan doesn’t oscillate. Not ideal in the middle of a heatwave. Not as cooling as expected either. Quiet until you get to level 4/5. Not good for small spaces, takes up a lot of room on a small table. Feel that the item is expensive for what it is. Battery life also not as good as they say. Have sent this item back.”

But another happy customer said: ” After years of buying cheap fans that break quickly and end up being a waste of money, I finally decided to invest in a higher-quality one and now I completely understand why it’s worth spending a bit more. This fan is a game-changer! Yes, it’s slightly bulkier than the ultra-cheap models, but it looks sleek and sophisticated. The size is due to the powerful built-in battery, which is amazing. I love that I can take it to the park or use it in the garden without needing to keep it plugged in.

“The misting feature is a brilliant bonus. Really unique feature and perfect for those hot summer days. Just a small amount of water goes a long way. It’s also super easy to use. I didn’t have to read through loads of instructions. It comes with helpful (removable) stickers on the device that explain everything you need to know.”

You can buy the Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo Misting Fan from Amazon, Shark and Currys. Get the HOMCOM Oscillation Spray Misting Pedestal Fan 47 inch from Wilko and the Lifemax Mist Fan from Superdrug.
