The killer is on the loose
A man shot in the ‘shocking’ quadruple Brixton shooting has died with police naming him. Keanu Taylor, 25, was hit in the drive-by shooting which left three others, including a pensioner, in A&E.
They are 21, 47, and 70, and have non life‑threatening or life‑changing injuries. Police raced to Coldharbour Lane, Brixton, at about 1.15am on Saturday (May 2) following reports of multiple shots fired.
No arrests have been made at this time, and the gunman is on the loose. Investigation lead Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo said: “As we work quickly to identify those responsible, our thoughts are with Keanu’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.
“This was a shocking act of violence which has had a devastating impact on those involved and the local community. I want to reassure residents that we are working urgently to identify and apprehend those responsible.
“It is vital that anyone who saw what happened, or has any information or footage, comes forward. Even the smallest detail could prove crucial to our investigation.
“Local residents will continue to see an increased police presence in the area over the coming days. If you have any concerns, please speak to officers.”
An hour later that same night, officers were called to Acre Lane, which is down the road from Coldharbour Lane, where they found a 33-year-old man with multiple stab injuries and took him to the hospital, where he remains in a life-threatening condition. No arrests have been made in either event. Now, officers are investigating whether the two events could be linked.
Anyone with information or footage that could assist police is urged to contact 101, quoting CAD 557/2May. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
