The 27-year-old attempted to flee in an Audi on the M20
A man from Tottenham repeatedly stabbed a complete stranger in a “violent and unprovoked” mugging. Amar Bostan, 27, caused multiple injuries to the male victim’s leg during the attack on July 24 last year.
Multiple people dialled 999 as the terrifying altercation unfolded on Hardinge Street, a residential road in Ashford, at around 10.45pm. Kent Police officers scrambled to the scene, where witnesses reported the perpetrator had kicked and held down the victim whilst brandishing a 3in-6in knife.
Patrols and paramedics located the injured man nearby and rushed him to hospital. He had been robbed of his phone, car keys and a small amount of cash.
Armed police pursued an Audi carrying Bostan as it fled in the direction of Canterbury, quickly bringing the car to a stop on the M20. The North Londoner, who was in the front passenger seat, was arrested and remanded in custody.
He was later charged with robbery and possession of a bladed article. Bostan, of Ruskin Road, initially pleaded not guilty but later changed his plea on day one of his trial.
A judge sentenced him to 10 years behind bars at a hearing at Canterbury Crown Court on May 1.
Detective Constable Tony Gregory said: “This was a violent and unprovoked attack which could easily have resulted in the loss of life and harm to members of the public at the scene.
“I am pleased that a dangerous individual like Bostan has received a substantial custodial sentence, preventing him from causing further harm to the community.”
