If you are looking for something free to do this May while celebrating Arsenal’s history, then this exhibition is for you

After Arsenal reached the Champions League final and sit top of the Premier League, it is no surprise that fans are feeling positive and excited about the next few weeks.

To coincide with this excitement, Arsenal fans who want to walk down memory lane are in for a treat. Throughout the month of May, you will have a chance to look back through the roots of the famous club and look at the different shirts that have been donned by the players throughout its illustrious history.

‘From Woolwich to the Emirates – 140 Years of Shirts’ is an independent exhibition exploring the history of Arsenal FC through iconic shirts. Hosted at The Weavers Arms in Islington, the exhibition offers a chance to look back at the club’s journey.

The exhibition explores the club’s journey from its origins in Woolwich in 1886 to its modern home in North London. Visitors will discover a ‘curated display of historic football shirts that highlight the evolution of football kit design, memorable eras of the club, and the deep connection between supporters and the shirts they wear.’

The exhibition is curated by Abdul Rashid Zakari. It is a community-focused celebration of football heritage, collectors’ culture, and the stories behind the game’s most iconic shirts.

There are shirts from Arsenal’s 140-year history, from their last season at Highbury to iconic 1900 shirts, such as their ‘bruised banana jerseys’, which were fan favourites at the time of their release.

Arsenal are in the midst of unprecedented history with three games remaining in the Premier League to win their first title in 22 years. They will also be playing Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League Final in Budapest on May 30. Arsenal have provisionally scheduled a trophy parade event for Sunday, May 31, one day after the Champions League Final in Budapest.

The exhibition is free to enter. It is being hosted at Weavers Arms, 98 Newington Green Road, N1 4RG, Islington.
