London Open Gardens is back but one enchanting garden will require ticket-holders to enter a ballot
London may be a metropolis, but in between its towering skyscrapers, grandiose palaces and sprawling streets is an oasis of greenery – with parks, woodland and even the odd urban farm considerately dotted around the city.
While most of these green spaces are open to the public, hundreds of small privately-owned gardens are typically shielded from public view. But for two special days, that will change as London Open Gardens 2026 returns on Saturday, June 6, and Sunday, June 7.
Over 120 private gardens will be open for London Open Gardens ticket-holders to peruse, with adult weekend tickets priced at £26.15, and £11.31 for youngsters aged 12 to 17. Children under 12 are granted free entry, offering a fun-filled family day out.
Among the new gardens tantalising attendees this year is The Floating Garden in King’s Cross, located on a barge off Regent’s Canal. Elsewhere, the 1900s’ Cranworth Gardens behind Brixton Road in Lambeth will also open for the first time, as will Bethnal Green Nature Reserve on Saturday only.
Over 100 enchanting gardens are returning to London Open Gardens this year, including The Brunel Museum’s private oasis in Rotherhithe and Kensington Square Gardens, among a host of others.
A select few secret gardens have proved so popular that ticket holders now have to enter ballots in order to access them.
Battersea Roof Gardens on the tip of Battersea Power Station may be the most iconic private garden to regularly participate in London Open Gardens. Ticket-holders wishing to visit can enter a ballot which is open until Saturday, May 23, when winners will be selected at random and offered visiting slots.
Even more exclusively, the event held a now-closed ballot last week for the Prime Minister’s own private garden in Downing Street (yes, THAT garden) which offered two private tours of just 24 spaces on Saturday, June 6.
