Police are hunting for a man after a horrifying ‘rape’ attack was captured by CCTV in broad daylight.
The Metropolitan Police are urging a woman they believe to have been raped in south London to come forward after seeing the footage.
The force said the attack happened outside Gaumont Place in Streatham at 5.30am on Tuesday, May 12.
The incident was not reported at the time but police were alerted the following day and saw CCTV footage of the attack.
An investigation has been launched by detectives who are searching for man described as black, of medium build and in his early 30s.
Detective Constable Charlie Codrington, who is leading the investigation, said: “We know the woman in this footage will be scared, but we urge her to contact the police.
“We are concerned for her wellbeing and officers are here to provide her with welfare, medical and trained support.”
He described it as a “horrifying incident which took place in broad daylight, close to a busy high street”.
The Met have released images of a man they want to trace in connection with the incident.
“We have released images of a man we need to trace and would urge anyone who recognises him to contact us.
“If you have any further information about what happened, please come forward,” said Codrington.
