The upgrades are part of a £1.4m investment into Harrow’s leisure facilities
A new and improved women-only gym has opened as part of a £1.4 million investment into Harrow ‘s leisure facilities. The facility within Harrow Leisure Centre is now 50 per cent larger to “better meet demand”, operator Everyone Active said.
It features a wider range of equipment, including an enhanced free weights and resistance area, cable machines, pin-loaded equipment, dumbbells and squat racks. There is also cardio equipment such as treadmills, bikes, cross trainers and a stair climber.
A power mill, glute bridge and abductor and adductor machines mark the newest additions to the gym. A larger stretch and recovery area has also been introduced, giving members more space to focus on recovery.
Additionally, bosses plan to install a recovery station in the coming weeks, providing access to massage guns and muscle stimulation equipment. Tiffany Johnson, general manager at Harrow Leisure Centre, said: “We’re really pleased to open our newly upgraded ladies-only gym, which has been designed with our community very much in mind.
“We know that having a dedicated, comfortable space can make a real difference in helping women feel more confident and supported when getting active. This upgrade allows us to offer more choice, more space and a better overall experience for our members.
“It’s an important step in making our facilities more accessible and ensuring we continue to meet the needs of local residents.”
Work on the centre’s main gym is also underway, with the fully refurbished space scheduled to reopen on May 21 with new and upgraded equipment. Further upgrades, including two new larger group fitness studios and a group cycle studio, are expected to be completed by summer 2026.
Work is being carried out in phases to minimise disruption, Everyone Active added.
