A man has been charged after the severely wounded man died in hospital
Investigators from the Met Police have launched a murder inquiry after a man died in North London.
Officers found the severely wounded 60-year-old man while on patrol in Chippenham Road, Maida Vale, at around 2.40am on Thursday, May 14.
Police gave first aid while they waited for paramedics from the London Ambulance Service to take the injured man to hospital.
The man spent a week in hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Friday, May 22. The Met Police has identified him as Michalis Kyriacou and his relatives are currently being supported by specialist officers.
Police investigated Michalis’ known associates and arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder on Sunday, May 17.
Biniam Tewolde Negash, 36, of Maida Vale, was charged with attempted murder on the same day. He appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court Monday, May 18, and was remanded into custody.
The Crown Prosecution Service has been informed of Michalis’ death.

“We also want to reassure the local community that specialist officers are working hard to put together an exact picture of what took place.”
