Her partner, German national Phillip Ostermann, 37, pleaded not guilty to three public order offences – two of them racially aggravated
An American influencer and prominent Donald Trump supporter has admitted assaulting a woman at a London Underground station, prosecutors have told a court.
Melissa Rein Lively, 40, a MAGA or ‘Make America Great Again’ influencer, did not appear in Westminster Magistrates’ Court this morning (Tuesday, June 2), but the prosecutor said she agreed to pay £910 in compensation and accepted an additional caution in response to the allegation.
Rein Lively was accused alongside Philipp Ostermann, 37, who was charged with two racially aggravated public order offences and a further public order offence against two alleged victims.
The prosecutor said that on Saturday, October 12 last year two sisters were walking towards Bond Street Underground station with their children when they spotted the couple kissing on the pavement. He claimed that Ms Lively appeared drunk, and as they approached she appeared to stumble over their pushchair, leading to one of the sisters pulling it back.
The prosecutor alleged: “Ostermann then said: “You bloody Indians, watch where you’re going. You shouldn’t be here”. “At this stage Ostermann went to kiss Lively again.” Following this, the court heard Ms Lively fell over the pushchair while the sisters responded “We’re not even Indians, stop being racist.”
Rein Lively then pulled the hair of one of the sisters, grabbing it and tugging it in a forceful manner, the court heard. The sister grabbed Rein Lively’s hair back to get her to release, prosecutors said.
Ostermann pleaded not guilty to three public order offences, two of them racially aggravated. Ostermann sat in seats in front of the dock, and only spoke to confirm his name and not guilty pleas. He appeared wearing a white shirt with the top two buttons undone, along with a tight blue blazer and matching trousers.
Concluding his summary, the prosecutor said: “Ms Lively pulled the hair of one of the sisters, grabbing it in a forceful manner. The sister in turn grabbed Ms Lively’s hair in an effort to resist her.”
Following Ostermann’s three not guilty pleas, the judge confirmed a trial will take place at the City of London Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, November 17. The 37-year-old was awarded unconditional bail.
