The North London shooter is on the loose
It’s been a grim few days in London with stabbings, deaths, and a shooting.
Two people have died, five people were stabbed, and was shot dead in a North London home. The majority happened across East London, in unrelated incidents, but the alleged shooting happened in a leafy part of North London.
Major crimes have been a big topic of discussion for London. Critics, among them Donald Trump, have claimed that crime in London is through the roof.
But Sir Sadiq Khan backers make a different argument. Official numbers show that 2025 saw the lowest level of homicides in the capital since monthly records began. Here’s everything you need to know.
Silvertown stabbing
Heartbroken relatives have paid tribute to a man who lost his life in a stabbing in East London on Friday. Emergency services were called at around 9am on Friday, June 5, to reports a man had been stabbed in Pankhurst Avenue in Silvertown.
Police and paramedics attended and found the victim with knife wounds in the garden of a property in nearby Rayleigh Road. Despite the efforts of paramedics, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim has since been named as Mark Orabiyi, better known by his stage name, Talay Riley. Stormzy and Wretch 32 are among those who have paid tribute.
Poplar stabbing
Police are searching for clues after a man was stabbed during an attack in East London on Saturday.
Officers from the Met Police were called to Ricardo Street in Poplar at around 7.47pm on Saturday, June 6, to reports a man had been assaulted.
Once there, they found a man aged in his 20s, who had been stabbed.
Barking triple stabbing
Three men were stabbed in Barking during a brawl, with one fighting for his life. It happened Saturday night, which left two other men with knife wounds. At around 11.20pm on Saturday, June 6, police were called to River Road, Barking to reports of a large fight.
Police and paramedics attended the scene and found three men – aged 22, 23 and 28 – with stab wounds. All three were taken to hospital, where the 22-year-old remains in a critical condition.
Woman shot dead in Finchley
A murder probe is underway after a 19-year-old woman was shot dead in North London. It happened in the early hours of this morning (Monday, June 8).
Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service alerted police to reports of gunshots at a house in Dale Grove, Finchley, at around 12.15am on Monday, June 8.
Despite the best efforts of emergency responders, a 19-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
