The first teaser trailer has been released upcoming for The Social Reckoning – giving us our first glimpse of Succession star Jeremy Strong in character as Mark Zuckerberg.
Strong takes over the role of the Facebook founder from Jesse Eisenberg, who played him in the hugely acclaimed The Social Network back in 2010.
Billed as “a companion piece” the new film also sees Aaron Sorkin returning to screenwriting duties, while he will also be serving as the film’s director after the earlier movie was helmed by David Fincher.
This time around, the focus is on the events that gave rise to the Wall Street Journal’s shocking exposé The Facebook Files – which caused a massive scandal when it was published in 2021.
Oscar winner Mikey Madison stars as young Facebook engineer Frances Haugen, who enlisted the help of reporter Jeff Horwitz (Jeremy Allan White) to “go on a dangerous journey that ends up blowing the whistle on the social network’s most guarded secrets”.
The impressive cast also includes Oscar-nominated Sinners star Wunmi Mosaku, GLOW’s Betty Gilpin, The Franchise’s Billy Magnussen and comedian Bill Burr.
In the trailer, we see Frances and Jeff discussing their plans to expose the secrets, with the former explaining: “I am here to help Facebook, not hurt it.”
Later, we see Strong’s Zuckerberg testifying before congress, describing himself as a “professional defendant” with things getting increasingly intense as the extent of the allegations become clear – and a counter smear campaign against Frances begins.
In the final moments, an enraged Zuckerberg shouts: “Enough! People around here understand that when I say no, that’s the end of the debate.”

The Social Reckoning will be released in UK cinemas on Friday 9 October.
