A man has been arrested, alleged to have been the ‘Putney Pusher’. It comes nearly a decade after an unidentified jogger shoved a woman into the path of a bus on Putney Bridge on May 5, 2017.
The Met says it arrested a man, 44, earlier today (Monday, June 15) at his home on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm. The mystery push was caught on CCTV and saw the jogger out running in a t-shirt and shorts come into contact with a woman, 33, walking in the opposite direction when he shoved her.
She fell into the road into the path of an oncoming bus, which managed to swerve at the last second, avoiding catastrophe. At the time, cops described the suspect as a white man, in his 30s, with brown eyes and short brown hair, reports the BBC.
Despite reviewing a pool of about 50 people, police never made any arrests until today and ‘all lines of enquiry have been exhausted’.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said today: “On Monday, June 15, a 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm. He was taken to police custody, where he remains.
“The arrest relates to an incident on May 5 2017, where a woman was pushed into the path of a bus on Putney Bridge in Putney. Inquiries continue.”
