A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a three-year-old boy was thrown into a crocodile enclosure
A three‐year‐old boy is in hospital after being thrown into a crocodile enclosure at a zoo near Huntingdon.
Police have arrested a 30‐year‐old man.
Officers were called to Johnsons of Old Hurst, near Huntingdon, at 1.24pm on Thursday (June 18) following reports that the child had entered the crocodile pen. The boy was injured by a crocodile and taken to hospital, where he is described as being in a serious but stable condition.
Det Insp Verity McCann, from Cambridgeshire Police, stated: “At this stage we are speaking to people who were at the zoo at the time of this distressing incident to understand more about the circumstances.
“We do not believe the man arrested and the child are known to each other. Officers are supporting the boy’s family at hospital, and our thoughts remain with them.”
The 30-year-old suspect has been detained on suspicion of attempted murder, reports the Daily Star.
