With the school holidays looming, parents are no doubt on the lookout for quick and easy days out, and one of England’s best attractions could do just the trick.
Attwell Farm Park, about two hours from London, has been put onto people’s radars as the ultimate family fun day out after it picked up the bronze medal in this year’s VisitEngland awards, for Large Visitor Attraction of the Year. Animals aside, the park hosts a range of fun-filled activities to keep all ages entertained made up of 20 attractions. Families can enjoy a sand play barn, offering a sensory experience for little ones; a huge indoor soft play area; pedal tractors; a full-size fire engine; an outdoor play area and so much more.
Visiting
Upon visiting the park, one person shared their experience on TripAdvisor, writing: “First visit and very impressed – clean, well-maintained, friendly staff, eating areas patrolled and cleaned regularly. Staff on hand everywhere should you need help. There were school trips going on when we arrived, and it was so well managed by the staff you could see they had everything under control.”
Another impressed parent shared: “The staff are extremely helpful, welcoming and accommodating. The park is great value for money with a range of activities to keep children of all ages entertained all day.”
Monday to Friday the park is open from 9am through to 5pm and extends its hours on weekends to 6pm. General admission entry fees are currently expected to set you back £12.95 on a weekend when booking online in advance, with kids’ tickets ranging from £4 to £12.95 depending on your child’s age, while those under 1 can attend for free.
The park offers a ‘weekend afternoon saver’ ticket which allows entry at a reduced price when visiting after 3pm, lowering adult fees to £8.95 when booked online. You can find out more on attwellfarmpark.co.uk.
Visitors can turn up on the day and pay at the door, but they should expect to pay a little bit more when not booking ahead of time.
Taking the top spot as Large Visitor Attraction of the Year was Jimmy’s Farm & Wildlife Park in Suffolk, which is home to lions, tigers, bears, camels, zebras and more. At the helm is British TV presenter Jimmy Doherty, known for the show Jimmy’s Farm, who has a passion for conserving wildlife, which shines through the work they do on the park.
In second place was Bletchley Park, Buckinghamshire, an English country house and estate tucked away in Milton Keynes.
