Three men have been arrested in connection to the collision in Newham
A 16-year-old boy is fighting for his life after a horror crash that killed two teenagers on the A13 in East London last night (Thursday, June 25). Emergency services attended the eastbound carriageway of Newham Way, Plaistow, at around 8.15pm following reports of a collision involving multiple vehicles.
Two men, aged 18 and 19, were pronounced dead at the scene, the Metropolitan Police confirmed in a statement this morning. They are yet to be named publicly.
Three other people, including the critically injured 16-year-old, were taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service, where they remain. Officers have arrested three men aged 18, 19 and 23 on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop.
They remain in custody today as the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit carry out urgent enquiries. The force is now appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Detective Chief Inspector James Beck said: “Our thoughts remain with the victims’ loved ones following this tragic incident. As we work to build a picture of the circumstances, we are keen to hear from any witnesses to the collision – particularly those with dashcam footage.
“We are aware of videos circulating on social media which appear to show the aftermath of the collision. We remind people to be respectful of the impact of this footage and encourage people not share and instead contact police directly if they have information.”
Anyone with information or footage is urged to call police on 101, quoting reference 01/7736458/26. Information can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
