Timir Ahmed Mohamed, 34, has been charged with five counts of attempted murder, along with dangerous driving, failing to stop, failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis and criminal damage
A man has been charged with attempted murder following an incident in which a vehicle struck multiple pedestrians outside a busy West London shopping centre.
Timir Ahmed Mohamed, 34, allegedly left the scene on Ealing Broadway at around 2.30pm on Saturday, resulting in five people being injured, with three needing hospital care.
Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) London conducted initial investigations, though officers have confirmed the incident is not being treated as a terrorist attack.
On Sunday evening, the Metropolitan Police revealed that Somalia-born Mohamed, of Grange Park, Ealing, has been charged with five counts of attempted murder, alongside dangerous driving, failing to stop, failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis and criminal damage.
He has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
None of the casualties suffered life-threatening or life-changing injuries, while the two people who were not admitted to hospital were treated at the location.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson stated: “We sent a number of resources including ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars, a volunteer emergency responder crew and an incident response officer to the scene. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.
“We treated three patients at the scene and took one of them to a major trauma centre by road as a priority. The other two patients were taken to a local hospital.”
