Hot on the heels of the last heatwave, London is set to sweat once again
Another heatwave is on the way as soon as next week, according to BBC forecasters. Things will really start picking up on Friday (July 3), with things peaking at 32C and not dropping below 28C until Monday, July 13, at the earliest.
In other words, with the BBC’s current projection, the heatwave is set to last 10 days. Having said that, July 13 is the final date in the forecast, so it’s entirely possible that the heatwave will continue to 11, maybe 12, days.
It comes as last week saw a record-busting 36.4C for June, with temperatures recorded at Heathrow Airport.
The hottest day is likely to be next Tuesday (July 7), which the BBC predicts to be a 32C. However, MyLondon spoke to Jim Dales of the British Weather Services, and he told us there’s a chance Tuesday could reach 40C.
The Met Office’s day-by-day forecast doesn’t stretch quite as far as the BBC’s, but it does predict next Monday (July 6) to be 31C. Meanwhile a WX Charts map predicts Tuesday to be in the high 20s, too.
