People say they now won’t leave the house if their battery is below 61%
Mobile phone experts have explained how to keep your battery full as new research shows most people would not leave the house with less than 61% battery on their phone. Vodafone said low battery anxiety has become one of the most stressful everyday experiences in Britain – ranking above getting stuck in traffic, running late and losing your keys.
A Vodafone spokesperson said: “When your phone underpins so much of your day, confidence in your battery really matters.”
With phones now used to make payments, navigate journeys and even unlock cars, the stakes of a dying battery have never felt higher.
Five ways to get more life out of your phone battery right now
- Switch on Low Power Mode. On iPhone, go to Settings then Battery. On Android it is usually found under Battery in Settings. It limits background activity and extends life significantly.
- Turn down your screen brightness. The display is one of the biggest drains on any smartphone battery. Even a small reduction makes a noticeable difference over the course of a day.
- Turn off background app refresh. Apps constantly updating in the background consume significant battery without you noticing. Switch it off for apps you do not need to update in real time.
- Keep your software updated. Manufacturers regularly release updates that include battery performance improvements. Staying current helps your phone run more efficiently.
- Carry a power bank. One of the simplest solutions remains one of the best. A small, portable charger in your bag or pocket means a low battery warning need never ruin your day.
