The dodgy product is made in China
Toys have been pulled from shelves as they may be laced with absestos. Tickit Sensory Blocks have been taken off the market by the manufacturer, Commotion Limited.
The sand inside the sensory blocks may be contaminated with a trace of asbestos. The bad batch consists of 16 large rubberwood blocks containing different sensory materials encased in acrylic windows.
The batch code is printed on the red acrylic block in the set, they can also be identified by the barcode 5060138820289. They were sold between May last year and March this year.
Tickit, which is Kent-based, has been making educational and sensory children’s toys for nearly 30 years, aimed at inspiring learning and making teaching more enjoyable.
Exposure to asbestos can lead to asbestosis, the symptoms of which include shortness of breath, persistent cough, wheezing, extreme tiredness (fatigue), pain in your chest or shoulder, in more advanced cases, clubbed (swollen) fingertips.
It can take 20 to 30 years after exposure before symptoms appear. Tests for the condition include a chest X-ray , a CT scan of the lungs, and lung function tests to see how well your lungs are working.
It has been illegal to import, export, sell or use any type of asbestos in the UK since 1999.
