Prince Harry has returned to the UK today for the Invictus Games 2027 one-year countdown event
Prince Harry is due to touch down in the UK today (Tuesday, July 7) to attend the one-year countdown event for the 2027 Invictus Games on Friday. The event, which is set to take place in Birmingham, will mark exactly 365 days until the Games are hosted there next summer.
41-year-old Harry could be set for a reunion with his father, King Charles, though the Duke is thought to have a minimal relationship with his stepmother, Queen Camilla. The King was reportedly looking forward to being reunited with his two youngest grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, however it has since been decided that the young royals will not be accompanying their father on the trip.
However, despite Harry’s well-documented rift with many of the senior royals, Queen Camilla is said to be “very willing” to meet with Harry during his time in the UK this week, reports the Express.
Speaking on the podcast, The Royals Uncensored, royal expert Katie Nicholls said: “I’m told that the Queen is also very willing to meet them. I was speaking to a source close to her this week, wondering if she might not be present because of the frankly horrific things Harry has said about Camilla in Spare.”
She added: “But no, if this meeting goes ahead, she wants to be there, she wants to see those step-grandchildren and she’s so in lock step with the King.”
In his explosive memoir, Spare, first published in hardback in January 2023, Harry referred to Camilla as “evil”, “a villian” and “dangerous”.
The King is believed to have last seen Archie and Lilibet, now aged seven and five, in person back in June 2022. Archie and Lilibet, who were then aged three and one, made the journey to the UK with Harry and Meghan for the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
They did not, however, join the senior members of the Royal Family on the Buckingham Palace balcony.
It remains unclear where Harry is staying during his visit, as his earlier offer to remain at Buckingham Palace was subsequently “withdrawn” after the royal accepted the invitation too late.
