The teenager is also accused of carrying out an attempted rape days earlier
A 16-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with raping a woman on a walking trail in Haringey. The teenager is accused of attacking the victim on Parkland Walk, which runs between Finsbury Park and Highgate, at around 10.30pm on June 30.
He is facing three counts of rape, attempted rape, possession of a bladed article, threats, false imprisonment, and actual bodily harm. The teenager, who cannot be named due to his age, has also been charged with attempted rape and actual bodily harm in relation to an incident in Grange Grove, Canonbury, on June 28.
He appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, July 11 and was remanded to appear at Wood Green Crown Court on August 13. Police patrols were stepped up in the wake of the reported rape on Parkland Walk.
Detective Inspector Warren Ingrey, who is leading the investigation at the Metropolitan Police, previously said: “We are aware of the concern that the community will have following this incident. Police patrols have been increased in the area, and anyone with concerns is asked to speak to officers.
“We would also encourage any witnesses or anyone with information about what happened to please come forward as soon as possible.”
Officers attended the walkway alongside the London Ambulance Service and established a cordon between Stanhope Road and Northwood Road. The woman who made the report is being supported by specialist staff, the Met added.
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting CAD9394/30JUN26. Information can also be given to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
