Boris Johnson rejected the suggestion that his behaviour as prime minister contributed to a “coarsening” of politics.
In an exclusive interview broadcast on Sky News on Sunday (19 July), Trevor Phillips asked the former Conservative leader whether he may “bear some responsibility for the coarsening of politics,” referencing the Partygate scandal.
Mr Johnson told Mr Phillips: “B*****ks.
“I don’t believe anybody would say that in their right mind [would say that].”
The former prime minister went on to describe the Partygate scandal as “nonsense.”
Later in the interview, Mr Johnson praised Rachel Reeves for firing back at a heckler at a petrol station.
