The British royal is related to two members of pop royalty
Queen Camilla may be a familiar face for Brits, but there are plenty of fascinating facts about her life that many do not know. In fact, she’s not the only member of ‘royalty’ in the family – if you include pop royalty, too. Two well-known singers are said to be genetically linked to Queen Camilla, making them very distant cousins.
A Reddit user wrote: “Today I learned that Madonna and Celine Dion are distant cousins of Camilla Parker Bowles (Queen Camilla, wife of King Charles).”
Unsurprisingly, the post ignited a lively debate, with many left astonished to discover she shares a family connection with an iconic pop star, reports the Express. One person commented: “Hmm. Interesting how a lot of celebrities are related to royalty somewhere in their bloodline.”
Another joked: “So that’s where Madonna’s spontaneous late-onset British accent came from.” Someone else remained rather sceptical, adding: “According to DNA, we’re all distant cousins of each other.”
As it turns out, there is genuine substance to the claim. Indeed, there are several surprising facts about Queen Camilla that are likely to catch you off guard.
Previously, Woman and Home revealed that she shares a genetic connection with Madonna, albeit a rather distant one. It remains, nonetheless, a thoroughly intriguing link to consider. The below post was written before Camilla became Queen.
The magazine said: “Interestingly, there are two famous pop stars that genealogical research has linked Queen Camilla to. Both Madonna and Celine Dion are descendants of the same French Canadian couple who lived in the 17th century. Camilla and the singers are also connected to actress Angelina Jolie too.”
According to reports, Queen Camilla and Madonna are distant cousins, owing to a shared 17th-century French-Canadian ancestor. The connection is said to make these high-profile women distant relatives, with the discovery reportedly uncovered through Canadian historical records held on Ancestry.co.uk.
Despite their connection however, it’s rather unlikely that the cousins will be invited round for a family dinner at Buckingham Palace any time soon.
