Supergirl is heading to digital platforms – and there isn’t long to wait.

The film, which continues James Gunn’s DC Universe after last summer’s Superman and stars House of the Dragon’s Milly Alcock, is set for a digital release on 28 July, 2026. It is currently available to pre-order on digital platforms including Amazon for £19.99.

Based on the comic series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow by Tom King, Supergirl follows Kara Zor-El (Alcock), who’s on a mission to save her superpup Krypto from dying after he’s poisoned by an enemy.

Alongside Alcock, Jason Momoa also stars, while the supporting cast includes Matthias Schoenaerts as the lead villain, Krem of the Yellow Hills, Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham as Supergirl’s parents, and David Corenswet as Superman.

Craig Gillespie directs from a script written by Ana Nogueira.

Supergirl was released in cinemas on 26 June, and opened to mixed reviews, with Radio Times’ own review awarding it 2 stars and critic Jeremy Aspinall calling it “an underpowered and underwhelming superhero flick” but praising Alcock’s performance.

He added: “Alcock does a decent job playing a Supergirl a million miles away from Helen Slater’s 1984 iteration or Melissa Benoist in the long-running TV show. All grunge aesthetic and attitude, she rises above the underwhelming script and direction.”

The movie has also performed poorly at the box office, grossing only $120 million worldwide so far against a budget estimated at around $170 million.
