The August launch party will feature an afternoon spanning hip hop, funk, disco, soul and world-class turntablism
One of the world’s most biggest DJ competitions is set to reign supreme in a North London borough this fall. The DMC World DJ Championships has announced a free official launch party at the Amphitheatre, Stables Market, Camden, on Sunday, August 16, from 3pm to 7pm.
After 41 years of the event hosted in cities across the globe, DMC returns to where it all started – in London. World DMC Champion Cutmaster Swift will perform alongside UK legend DJ Pogo, with the afternoon hosted by MysDiggi. No ticket or advance registration is required, with visitors invited to simply turn up and join the party.
The event marks the beginning of the road to DMC41 – the 41st edition of the world’s most prestigious DJ competition – which will take over venues across Camden from Thursday, November 12, to Saturday, November 14. Tickets to DMC41 are available now, with tickets with DAY ONE starting at £22 and DAY TWO starting at £35.75.
First staged in London in 1985, the DMC World DJ Championships has spent more than four decades discovering new talent and shaping the history of DJ culture.
From New York to Tokyo, Paris to San Francisco, DMC has established itself as the ultimate proving ground for turntablism – the place where unknown bedroom DJs become world champions and future legends write their names into music history.
The roll call of those who have taken the title includes A-Trak, Craze, DJ Qbert, Cash Money, Roc Raida, C2C, Scratch Perverts, DJ Fly and Kentaro, artists who first announced themselves to the world on the DMC stage.
Camden will become the global capital of DJ culture as DMC41 takes over venues across the borough from November 12 to 14 for three days of world-class competition, legendary performances and a celebration of the art of the DJ at the highest level.
The August launch party will feature an afternoon spanning hip hop, funk, disco, soul and world-class turntablism. The event is free and open to everyone, with no ticket or advance registration required.
Visitors can simply walk into the Amphitheatre at Camden Market and join the party from 3pm. Free DMC merchandise, vinyl, slipmats and exclusive giveaways will also be available throughout.
