The Met Police have also named a driver charged with causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst disqualified
The delivery driver killed in a crash on the A12 in Chadwell Heath has been named by police as more than 550 people have donated to a fundraiser to help cover the costs of his funeral and support his family at this ‘incredibly tough time’. Anwar Shinwari, 28, died at the scene of the crash on July 19 at 9.20pm and his next-of-kin continue to be helped by specialist officers.
Police were called to the collision on the Whalebone Lane section of the A12 which involved a car and Mr Shinwari on his motorbike. Met Police officers attended with the London Ambulance Service, London’s Air Ambulance and the London Fire Brigade.
Anwar’s friends have since set up a GoFundMe to help cover the funeral costs. The description reads: “His family is going through an incredibly tough time. Every donation can help support them with the costs of transporting his body to Afghanistan and covering funeral expenses.”
A Met Police spokesperson said the driver of the car left the scene on foot, and an investigation was launched within the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit.
On Saturday, July 25 a 45-year-old man was arrested in connection with the investigation.
Lee Culleton, 45, of Rattwick Drive, Canvey Island has since been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving without insurance, driving whilst disqualified and fraudulent use of a registration mark.
He appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Monday, July 27 and was remanded into custody.
He will next appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Tuesday, August 25.
