A woman who managed to get her hands on a viral Caesar salad wrap has shared her experience queuing for the item – including how long it took her to get her food
If you want to get your hands on some of London’s tastiest dishes, you’d better be prepared to queue. London is home to countless food spots, many of which have gone viral over the years after people on social media have raved about the menu and urged others to try it out for themselves.
But when a location goes viral, that usually means it gets very busy, meaning you have to arrive at the right time to get your hands on the delicious food they sell. And one woman recently gave her viewers a glimpse of what it’s like to hit up a popular food spot, as she timed how long it took her to get one of the viral Caesar salad wraps from CZER.
Angelina, who regularly shares reviews of new and viral foods, shared a TikTok video in which she documented her experience with visiting CZER, a hidden counter tucked inside the Mayfair Food Fayre convenience store in London, which sells Caesar salad wraps that have been taking the internet by storm.
The location is inspired by LA and New York deli-style chopped salads, and even gives shoppers the opportunity to choose a bag of crisps from the shop shelves that can be crushed into the wrap for added crunch.
Angelina explained that she arrived at the location at 10:30 am on a Sunday, despite the shop not opening until 11 am. She thought that she’d be the only one in the queue because she’d got there before opening, but was gobsmacked to find a small line of people already waiting outside the building.
She said: “I’ve been seeing this Caesar wrap everywhere on my social media. It looks so chunky and beautiful; we need to get it. The time is currently 10:30 am on a Sunday, and it opens at 11. So surely, there’s not going to be a lot of people.”
Despite arriving half an hour before the shop opened, Angelina actually didn’t start the timer on her phone until around 10:55, when she then began timing how long it would take her to get her food.
Although the queue was long, those waiting for a wrap weren’t ignored by staff members. Angelina showed in her video that they went down the line offering Dubai chocolate and energy drinks to customers waiting in line, which helped keep energy levels up and spirits high, despite the long queue time.
She added: “I feel like if you ever want a chance to get one of these wraps, you actually have to come in early. Apparently, they also only give out 250 a day. On a plus note, though, we were actually very well looked after.”
Around an hour after Angelina started her timer, she made it to the front of the queue and could enter the shop. She filmed herself choosing a packet of salt and vinegar McCoys crisps to add to her wrap, as well as a clip of the employee putting her very well-filled wrap together.
She said she paid £14.25 for the meal, and it took her a total of one hour and 10 minutes from queuing up at 10:55 to leaving the shop with her food in hand.
In a second video, Angelina actually taste-tested the wrap, which she said was “so good”, adding that the huge wrap was unlike anything she had ever had before.
She explained: “There’s the perfect amount of sauce in there. It’s cheesy, but not too cheesy. It’s so refreshing as well. I actually can’t fault it. Well, the only thing I can fault is that I queued for an hour for it. But was it worth it? I feel like yeah. A solid 9.2 out of 10.”
Commenters on the posts were torn over the wrap. Some said it looked “delicious” and seemed worth the time and money spent on it, others said they would never wait an hour in line for anything.
One person said: “To be fair, that wrap looks good and I’m not even a massive fan of Caesar salad.”
Another added: “I might have to travel to London just for this.”
But a third disagreed, writing: “Absolutely no way I’d wait one hour in line.”
