People have been urged not to use washing machines and dishwashers whilst Affinity Water fix the burst
A burst water main has flooded parts of Stanmore this morning, causing disruption towards the A41.
Spur Road is currently closed to eastbound traffic between A5 Stonegrove and Edgware Way while Affinity Water engineering teams try to fix the issue. Homes and businesses in HA8, WD6, WD7 and NW7 may have a poor water supply in the meantime.
“Our technician on site has managed to make adjustments to the pipework, so all customers should be back on supply, but at a lower water pressure,” an Affinity Water spokesperson said, “Our teams are constantly monitoring the water pressure on the network, and it is rising.”
People in the affected area have been urged to avoid using their washing machines, dishwashers, and other water-using electrical appliances until the problem is fully rectified. A further update is expected at around midday.
Traffic is moving slowly, with congestion reported up to the A41 from the M1, and via Brockley Hill on diversion. Bus routes 107, 142, and 642 are also being rerouted away from the scene.
