The opening in West London marks the Australian brand’s first store in London
A popular Australian frozen yoghurt company is set to mark its first expansion into Europe this summer by opening in London.
Yo-Chi, which has grown in popularity ever since it was established in Melbourne, Australia in 2012, has grown from four sites in Australia to more than 75 locations across Australia and Singapore. This August, it will add to its growing collection by opening in West London.
‘Fro-Yo’, as it is called by Australians, is widely popular Down Under, and its opening in London coincides with the seemingly growing number of Australian people who have moved to London over the last few years.
Their new site in Notting Hill will be over 2,000 square feet across two floors and accommodate over 120 guests. The self-serve frozen yoghurt can be covered with a variety of toppings from fruit to Oreos, and the price is determined by the weight of your pot. The new site is located next to Hobson House, as branding has been plastered over the building that used to house Le Pain Quotidien on Notting Hill Gate Road.
They have started hiring as job postings have appeared on job boards such as Glassdoor. The posting read ‘Join our team at Yo-Chi’s brand-new Notting Hill venue and be part of something exciting! We’re on the lookout for fun, energetic, and passionate people to help us bring the Yo-Chi experience to London as we open our doors in August’
The inside of the venue is modern with detailed light fixtures and panelling that give a warm feeling. The venue will also feature an in-store DJ booth for events and a signature strawberry disco ball
If you are aged 16-17, pay starts at £10-£11 an hour. If you are 18 – 20, it is £12 – £13. If you are over 21+, pay will start from £13.50 – £14. They also state that you might be able to start their training programme on August 17. An official date has not been confirmed yet but it seems likely that the end of August is the likely time.
It is alleged that Yochi may be further opening two new stores in Clapham and Islington but that has yet to be confirmed.
Yo-Chi will be located at 85 Notting Hill Gate, W11 3JS.
