A man was arrested in Greenwich and is in custody at the time of writing
A man was raced to A&E after being attacked by the Elizabeth line entrance in Woolwich. The police raced to Beresford Square at around 7.50pm last night to reports of an attack.
There they found a man, 30, who was taken to A&E in a non life-threatening nor life-changing condition. A man, 52, was taken in shortly after on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
He was arrested in Greenwich and is in custody at the time of writing. The investigation continues.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at around 7.50pm on Sunday, August 2, to a report of an assault in Beresford Square, Woolwich. Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service.
“A man in his 30s was taken to hospital with injuries that were deemed to be neither life-threatening nor life-changing.
“A short time later, a 52-year-old man was arrested in the Greenwich area on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He remains in police custody.
“An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting CAD 6777/02AUG26 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 7:53pm yesterday (August 2) to reports of an assault in Beresford Square, Woolwich.
“We sent an ambulance crew, paramedics in fast response cars and an incident response officer. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.
“The first paramedic arrived on the scene in less than five minutes.
“We treated a patient at the scene and took him to a London major trauma centre as a priority by road”.
