A 24-year-old man has been rushed to hospital
A 24-year-old man has been taken to hospital after a stabbing in Chingford yesterday evening (August 4). Emergency services attended Brook Crescent, in the Chingford Mount area, shortly after 7.35pm following reports of the attack.
Paramedics treated the victim for multiple knife wounds and a head injury at the scene before rushing him to a major trauma centre. His condition is not life-threatening or life-changing, the Metropolitan Police said in a statement this afternoon (August 5).
No arrests have been made, and enquiries remain ongoing, the force added. Witnesses are asked to come forward as soon as possible.
The London Ambulance Service told MyLondon: “We were called at 7:38pm yesterday (4 August) to reports of a stabbing on New Road, Chingford, E4. We sent an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car and an incident response officer.
“We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance. We treated a patient at the scene and took him to a major trauma centre as a priority by road.”
Chingford MP Iain Duncan Smith described the stabbing as a ‘serious incident’ and urged constituents to share any relevant information with investigators. A cordon was erected around Brook Crescent and New Road but has since been removed.
Chingford Mount was rocked by knife crime just weeks ago when a 34-year-old man was injured during an altercation on nearby Old Church Road. He and a 17-year-old boy were arrested in connection.
