A series of airshows and regattas are still to come across the UK this year
The Red Arrows have returned from America to deliver an exciting series of aerobatic performances across UK skies – and there’s still time to see them before the summer ends.
After completing their high-profile tour of the United States, the Royal Air Force’s celebrated display team is returning home to bring its world-famous formations to airshows and regattas across the UK, with some displays just a short distance from London.
Adverse weather conditions in Canada postponed their return flight to RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire, though the team touched down safely in Scotland and promptly commenced their UK programme. You can use our interactive map to discover when and where they’ll be appearing.
In a social media post, Wing Cdr Sasha Nash – who became the first woman to command the legendary Red Arrows – commented: “It is great to be home and to now be in a position to perform at the rest of the summer events planned this season. The Red Arrows can’t wait to display for aviation fans and families.”
Following a brief flypast in Sweden to mark the Swedish Air Force’s centenary, the iconic Hawk T1 jets are delivering display routines throughout Britain and mainland Europe.
The nearest upcoming date to see the distinctive red, white and blue vapour trails streaking through the skies near London will be at the Duxford Battle of Britain Airshow Display on September 12, then again on October 3. Duxford in Cambridgeshire can be reached in just over an hour by car from North London.
The Red Arrows were formed by the RAF back in 1965, and have since performed their impressive acrobatics routines over 4,900 times across the globe.
