The stylish brunch in East London is perfect for weekend dining with friends, without breaking the bank. The spot has quickly carved out a name for itself as one of the capital’s most talked-about dining experiences

Shoreditch has never been short of places to eat, but every so often a spot comes along that genuinely earns its reputation. The Brushis one of those rare finds – a buzzing weekend brunch destination that delivers on atmosphere, creativity and value in equal measure.

Tucked away on the ground floor of the striking art’otel London Hoxton (operated by the Hoxton Hotel Group), The Brush has quickly carved out a name for itself as one of East London’s most talked-about dining experiences. Far from the stiff, formal feel of a typical hotel restaurant, it’s a place that pulses with energy from the moment you walk in.

The Brush serves up an imaginative weekend brunch menu every Saturday and Sunday from 12pm-4pm.

Executive Chef Ryan Matheson’s menu combines traditional European brasserie influences with distinctive East London culinary flair.

Taking pride of place is its ‘Cake in a Pan’; a range of loaded pancakes featuring innovative sweet and savoury toppings, alongside seasonal specials. Choices include a peri peri chicken stack with scallions, piparra peppers and crispy rice noodles; maple pork belly on corn pancakes with chilli, apple and chorizo jam; and oxtail on a sweet potato pancake stack with pickled red onion and poached egg.

For those who prefer the classics, there’s a selection of egg dishes such as Eggs Benedict and Eggs Royale, plus heartier choices like braised short ribs with mac & cheese.

If you’re after something sweeter for brunch, the brioche French toast arrives piled high with red berries, mascarpone, vanilla butter, and maple syrup. There’s also an in-house patisserie counter showcasing fresh croissants, eclairs, and blueberry amandine tarts.

They regularly feature a fantastic weekend brunch package, offering an aperitif and two courses for £25 per head.

Alternatively, you can enhance your dining experience to a boozy brunch affair by adding a bottomless cocktail pitcher for £35 per person.

This includes 2 hours of free-flowing Aperol Spritz, Strawberry Margaritas, Pimm’s, or Coalition Beer jugs.

The venue captures Shoreditch’s thriving art culture, boasting floor-to-ceiling windows and impressive large-scale interior art installations by renowned local street artist D*Face.

Diners commend the ambience for being “electric” and “bouncing,” completely sidestepping the impersonal atmosphere often found in hotel restaurants.

Throughout weekend brunch service, a live DJ creates a contemporary, sophisticated vibe that complements a lively social occasion perfectly. Weather permitting, there’s a 70-seat outdoor terrace shielded by verdant greenery, enabling you to absorb the Shoreditch atmosphere while enjoying al fresco dining.
