The closures were announced earlier this year
Three Beefeater and Brewers Fayre restaurants in London are set to close permanently next week, following the chain’s announcement that all 106 of its sites across the country will shut their doors. Known for its mature steaks and generous mixed grills, Beefeater will serve its final meals to customers on September 10.
Within Greater London, three Beefeater sites are affected – The Fountain in Twickenham, London Woolwich, and The Traveller’s Rest in Harrow, as well as numerous locations across neighbouring counties.
The brand falls under the ownership of brewery giant Whitbread, which has committed to slashing £250 million in costs as part of a sweeping restructuring programme.
The company confirmed that both its Beefeater and Brewers Fayre portfolios would be wound down entirely, placing 3,800 jobs at risk. Among the 12 Brewers Fayre closures in and around London is a single site within the city itself — Winsor House, located at the Premier Inn London Beckton hotel.
When viewing the London Woolwich restaurant’s webpage, a message now reads: “We hope to see you again before this restaurant closes to the public on 10 September 2026. In the lead-up to closure, some food & drink options may not be available during your next visit. “
It adds: “Following the restaurant closure, Premier Inn guests will continue to enjoy breakfast, evening meals and drinks throughout their stay. Please visit the Premier Inn website for more information. If you’re interested in joining us for Sunday Roast, please contact the restaurant directly before visiting to check availability as this may vary by site. Thank you for your understanding.”
