It comes after a boiling hot summer
Warm temperatures are set to make a return with 27C forecast this Sunday (September 6), according to The Met Office and BBC Weather. The sharp rise comes as we enter the typically cooler month of September, following a scorching summer which has seen six heatwaves and hosepipe bans with temperatures surpassing the 38C mark.
Today (Thursday, September 3) will also peak at a warm 26C, while Monday (September 7), will see the mercury reach the 25C mark. The BBC also forecasts a hot 27C Sunday, as does WX Charts, which suggests a hot 25C. Temperatures won’t peak at any less than 19C, so it won’t exactly be freezing.
But the coming weeks may signal the need to change our wardrobes as Autumn begins at the equinox, which typically occurs on September 22 or 23. It finishes in November, during which time the temperatures get cooler, the days get shorter, and quite often the weather gets stormier.
