Katseye performed their first of two shows at London’s O2 Arena on Thursday (September 3) and while fans enjoyed the show, they couldn’t help but notice something odd about the crowd

Fans of Katseye have noticed something unique about the crowd at their opening show at the O2 Arena. The pop group are performing at the iconic London arena for two nights this week, with their first show on Thursday (September 3) and their second tonight (September 4).

And while fans in attendance at the first London show had a fantastic time, many of them couldn’t help but notice something you don’t usually see at the venue. While concerts usually cater to those of all ages, Katseye seems to have attracted a very specific demographic.

Concert-goer Melissa shared a video on social media immediately after the gig on Thursday, in which she said she was “shocked” by one key detail about the people around her.

Melissa explained that while she “expected” to see some young children at the Katseye gig, she couldn’t believe how many kids were actually in attendance, as she joked she thought she’d walked into a “Wiggles concert” by mistake.

Issuing a warning to other concertgoers on TikTok, she said: “I was expecting there to be a lot of kids, because it’s Katseye, but if you’re going to a concert, I don’t think you’re going to realise how many there actually are. I thought I was going to a Wiggles concert. That’s how many kids there are.”

Another TikTok video from a woman named Gab showed the group on stage performing “Touch,” while the voice of a young girl could be heard screaming along to the lyrics.

She captioned her video: “Can there please be an age limit for Katseye concerts because this is literally all I could hear.”

Commenters on both videos were split over whether children should attend the concert. Many parents defended their decision to take their kids, saying their little ones had the “best night” at the gig.

One mum said: “Took my nine-year-old yesterday to see them! What a night! She sang her heart out and told me it was the best night of her life.”

Another argued: “As a mum of a 10-year-old who’s taking my daughter tonight, I do slightly agree, but I do know the songs. The thing is, Katseye came out with a bang with these great dance routines.

“Of course young girls are going to recreate these, just like I did with Steps and S Club 7. Some of the songs I used to sing were also rude, but I had no idea what I was singing, for example, Aqua’s Barbie Girl, and Spice Girls’ 2 Become 1 isn’t so innocent.”

Another person argued: “It’s no different to when I was young. I loved Madonna; she was very sexual, but I didn’t see that. It was about the music. Let the kids enjoy it.”

Another agreed, writing: “Parents grew up with Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears and a whole lot of rap videos on MTV. So we think Katseye is ok.”

However, others think concerts are “not for kids”. Someone else shared: “I was shocked at how many really young girls there were. All singing, dancing and swearing along to the songs. A mum sat next to me looked in utter shock and horror when she heard the words to some of the songs.”

There is no age restriction for seated tickets at the Katseye shows at the O2 Arena. There is, however, a 16+ age restriction for floor tickets, and a message on the O2 website warns that you may be asked to show ID to access that area.
