A Met Police officer was left in hospital and their motorbike was crumpled after an accident on Oxford Street. It happened at about 7.50am yesterday (Thursday, September 3) when the officer was responding to an incident.

The motorbike collided with a van that was not involved in the incident. The officer’s injuries were not life-threatening or life-changing. There have been no arrests. The investigation continues.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “At 7.49am on Thursday, September 3, an officer on a police motorcycle was responding to an incident in Oxford Street. The police motorcycle was subsequently involved in a collision with a van that was not connected to the incident.

“The London Ambulance Service attended and the officer was taken to hospital. His injuries were later deemed neither life-threatening or life-changing. No other injuries were reported and no arrests have been made.

“Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting CAD 1421/03SEP.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 7:49am yesterday (Thursday, September 3) to reports of a road traffic collision on Oxford Street.

“We sent ambulance crews and an incident response officer. We treated a patient at the scene and took him to a local hospital.”
